The retroreflector occurs when a portion of the incident light is reflected back to the direction of the light source. In general, the retroreflective technique uses very tiny spheres or prisms to perform the function of light reentry. Materials with retroreflective properties are collectively referred to as reflective materials.

The reflective material is able to reflect mainly for the reason that it contains high refractive glass beads or micro-prism structure to achieve the spherical reflection or prism reflection.
