Retroreflective coefficient of reflective film and reflective grade standard

There are many types of reflective sheeting, and it is tough to distinguish them from each other.
So, in daily life, we will provide the reflective sheeting according to the contracts or the requirements of customers.
All these refer to the retroreflective coefficient of reflective film and the reflective grade standard.

But what are they?

The retroreflective coefficient of reflective film refers to the coefficient of the light source that the reflective film can reflect back when the light hits the surface of the reflective film.
The coefficient here is a specific value.
The following will introduce the retroreflective coefficient standard of commonly used reflective film.
This standard is the minimum requirement in the national standard “GB/T18833-2002” road traffic sign reflective film file.

Compared with the new standard, the old national standard has four levels of reflective sheeting:

1. Class I type of reflective sheeting is also called engineering reflective sheeting. It can be written as I type reflective film.

The retroreflective coefficient requirements for I type of engineering-grade reflective film are:
When the observation angle is 0.2 and the incident angle is -4°, the minimum coefficient requirement for white is 70, yellow is 50;orange is 25,red is 14, green is 90,blue is 40,brown is 10,and gray is 42.

2. Class II type reflective sheeting is called super engineering reflective sheeting, which is the III type reflective sheeting in the old national standard.

The retroreflective coefficient requirements for the II type of super engineering-grade reflective film are:
When the observation angle is 0.2 and the incident angle is -4°,the minimum coefficient requirement for white is 140,yellow is 100,orange is 60,red is 30 ,blue is 10, brown is 5.

 3. Class III type reflective sheeting is called super reflective sheeting.

The retroreflective coefficient requirements for the III type of super reflective film are:
When the observation angle is 0.2 and the incident angle is -4°,the minimum coefficient requirement for white is 250,yellow is 175, orange is 100, red is 50, green is 45,blue is 20, brown is 12, the fluorescent yellow green is 200, fluorescent yellow is 150, and fluorescent orange is 75.

4. Class IV reflective film is also known as “super-strong reflective film”, and it is called secondary reflective filmin the old traditional standard document .

IV super-strong reflective film retroreflection coefficient requirements:
When the observation angle is 0.2 and the incident angle is -4°, the minimum coefficient requirements for white is  360, yellow is 270, orange is 145, red is 65, green is 50, blue is 30, brown is 18, fluorescent yellow-green is 290, fluorescent yellow is 220, and fluorescent orange is 105.

5. Class V reflective sheeting, called diamond grade reflective film, is the I-type reflective sheeting in the old document.

V super reflective film retroreflection coefficient requirements:
When the observation angle is 0.2 and the incident angle is -4°, the minimum coefficient requirements for white is  580, yellow is 435, orange is 200, red is 87, green is 58, blue is 26, brown is 17, fluorescent yellow-green is 460, fluorescent yellow is 350, and fluorescent orange is 175.
