Requirements and Applications of Microprismatic Reflective Film

What is the function of prismatic film?

Optical film is a broad concept, which includes many types. Commonly used optical films include: high reflective film; anti-reflective film; filter film; color filter film; anti-reflective film; focusing film; diffusion film; polarizing film, etc. Prismatic reflective film should belong to the type of light-enhancing film, but the conventional classification often defines it as a reflective film, which can reflect light back in the opposite direction of the incident light and has a high retro-reflective performance.

What is the optical principle of anti-reflective film?

Anti-reflective film uses the principle of light interference to deposit multiple layers of thin film on a transparent substrate, so that light of different wavelengths produces a phase difference between the film layers, thereby achieving the effect of reducing reflection and increasing transmittance.
This principle is also called the Brewster angle principle, that is, when the incident angle of light is equal to the Brewster angle, the reflectivity is 0 and the transmittance is 100%. Anti-reflective film is widely used in glasses, photographic lenses, liquid crystal displays and other fields, which can improve the clarity and light transmittance of optical equipment.

What is anti-reflective film? What is the principle?

Anti-reflection film is also called anti-reflection film. Its main function is to reduce or eliminate the reflected light from optical surfaces such as lenses, prisms, and plane mirrors, thereby increasing the light transmittance of these components and reducing or eliminating the stray light of the system.

Principle introduction:

Anti-reflection film is based on the wave nature and interference of light. If two light waves with the same amplitude and wavelength are superimposed, the amplitude of the light wave will be enhanced; if the two light waves have the same origin and different path lengths, if the two light waves are superimposed, they will cancel each other out. Anti-reflection film uses this principle to coat the surface of the lens with anti-reflection film, so that the reflected light generated by the front and back surfaces of the film layer interferes with each other, thereby canceling out the reflected light and achieving the effect of anti-reflection.

Principle of prism plate?

Principle of prism plate

When the prism plate is used in the backlight source, when the light incident from the light source passes through the prism structure, only the light within a certain angle range of the incident light can be emitted through refraction. The rest of the light is reflected back to the light source by the edge of the prism because it does not meet the refraction conditions, and then re-emitted by the reflective sheet at the bottom of the light source.
In this way, the light in the backlight source is continuously recycled under the action of the prism structure. The light originally diverging in all directions is controlled to an angle range of 70° after passing through the prism film, thereby achieving the effect of axial brightness enhancement.

Principle of corner cube prism is a retroreflector. The basic operating principle is that there is internal reflection on three mutually orthogonal prism surfaces, resulting in a reflected beam with a direction nominally parallel to that of the incident beam – the accuracy is limited only by the accuracy of the orientation of the reflecting surfaces.
Precision prisms can achieve excellent parallelism between the incident and reflected beams.

How does PBS polarization work?

PBS (polarization beam splitter) polarization beam splitter prism can split the incident non-polarized light into two perpendicular linear polarized light beams. The P polarized light passes completely, while the S polarized light is reflected at an angle of 45 degrees, and the outgoing direction is 90 degrees to the P light.
This polarization beam splitter prism is made of a pair of high-precision right-angle prisms glued together, and the hypotenuse of one of the prisms is coated with a polarization splitting medium film.
